Invisalign straightens teeth using a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that are custom-made specifically for your teeth. As you replace each aligner every one to two weeks, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week, gradually moving towards the projected final position.

A dental crown artificially restores the chewing surface of a tooth. Also known as “caps”, these restorations surround the entire portion of the tooth that is above the gumline. Crowns are custom fabricated to match the color, shape, and size of other teeth. Dental crowns are also called abutments when they are part of a dental bridge and used to replace a missing tooth. These bridges consist of one or more pontics (fake teeth) and are held in place by dental abutments.
There are times when it is best to remove teeth. Extractions are necessary when a tooth is either badly broken, severely infected, fractured or space needs to be made due to crowding. We understand that no one wants to undergo a tooth extraction, but we make it as stress-free and comfortable for our patients as possible.
Sometimes when a patient is really anxious about having a tooth pulled and needs more than just local anesthetic we do offer IV sedation with Dr. Justin Rider. You will have a consultation with him beforehand to discuss any concerns and go over the entire procedure. Two really important things to know about sedation would be not eating or drinking anything for 6 hours prior to your scheduled appt and also you will need someone to drive you to and from the appt.
Dental implants are a permanent solution to restore the function and appearance of a missing tooth. Implants are placed right into the jawbone and restored with a custom porcelain crown, which looks and functions just like a normal tooth. The process is usually simple and can be performed painlessly.
Professional dental cleanings (dental prophylaxis) are performed by Ironwood Dental’s Registered Dental Hygienists. Dental sealants are thin plastic coatings that are applied to the grooves on the chewing surfaces of teeth. Sealants protect the chewing surfaces from tooth decay by keeping bacteria and food particles out of these grooves. Applying sealants does not require drilling or removing tooth structure. The process is short and easy. Decay damages teeth permanently. Sealants protect them. Sealants can save time, money, and the discomfort sometimes associated with dental fillings.
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is when your breathing stops while you are asleep – and that is as serious as it sounds. Because sleep apnea stops you from breathing, sometimes hundreds of times a night and for up to two minutes at a time, it causes a drop in blood oxygen levels. Your body realizes it could die from lack of oxygen, the fight or flight startle response is triggered, and with a gasp, you wake up. This process places a lot of stress on your heart and raises blood pressure. In addition, the adrenaline released affects cortisol levels – and a cortisol imbalance can lead to dramatic weight gain! Sleep apnea also keeps you from properly entering REM sleep, the most restorative stage of nightly sleep. Without REM sleep, the brain begins to function less optimally, affecting your memory, your ability to recognize mistakes, your mood, your ability to cope with stress, and even the way you process pain. The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine notes that over 18 Million Americans have OSA. Ironwood Dental offers sleep apnea testing and correction services that can help you with this, and maybe even save your life.
Having a straight smile is more than just beautiful, it is important for your oral health! Misaligned or crooked teeth can be difficult to keep clean, leading to gum disease and other issues. Poor bite alignment can also cause issues, including excess wear on your teeth and stress on the muscles and joint supporting your jaw. We can help you achieve a straight smile in a variety of ways. There is no one right option for everyone. Tooth movement works by applying continuous pressure over a period of time to slowly move teeth in a specific direction. As the teeth move, the bone changes shape as pressure is applied. Teeth can be moved at any age using metal brackets, Invisalign, or a variety of other removable appliances. We will conduct a clinical exam, take a digital scan of your teeth, take photos of your face and teeth, and get X-rays of the mouth and head. Dr. Schneider will recommend an appropriate treatment plan based on the gathered information and discuss all options with you.
We offer partial and complete dentures, as well as implant supported dentures. We will help educate you on what option will work best for your mouth. Our goal is to provide you with an option that is functional and beautiful. You deserve a complete smile that can fit into your budget; dentures can be the best option for many of our patients.
A root canal is a treatment to disinfect and save a badly damaged or infected tooth instead of removing it. The treatment involves cleaning the canals inside a tooth’s root. With local anesthetics, most people have little if any pain with a root canal. In fact, it’s probably more painful living with a decayed tooth. Alternatives to root canal therapy include extracting the damaged tooth and replacing it with a dental implant, bridge or removable partial denture.

There are various clinical applications including dental implant planning, visualization of abnormal teeth, evaluation of the jaws and face for orthodontics and sleep apnea, diagnosis of dental infection, and diagnosis of dental trauma.

Periodontitis, or gum disease, has become a serious health issue with many adults. Not only is it the leading cause of tooth loss, it increases your risk for stroke, type 2 diabetes, pregnancy issues and certain cancers. Periodontitis is caused by the bacteria found in plaque. This disease starts as gingivitis, an inflammation of the gums. If left untreated, the infection can progress, leading to a breakdown in the tissues and bone that support your teeth. We take our patients’ health seriously and offer periodontal therapy that can effectively stop the progression of periodontitis.
